Current Events

Montgomery Children’s Zoo Visit

Come out to the Montgomery Zoo with the children from Montgomery Children’s Specialty Center on May 18, 2019. This project creates a special experience to the children that are under the care of this facility. We will meet in the front of the zoo at 9am. Please email [email protected] if you would like to attend.

One of the CGFM 25 year anniversary challenges is collecting 25 pounds of food for a shelter. Recently with tornadoes touching down in nearby communities, Montgomery Chapter would like to do a food drive to help out our neighboring community and home base.

Please bring non-perishable items to Montgomery AGA’s 2019 Spring PDT on April 12, 2019 that they may be given to a food bank. If every member brings at least one can food item, we will exceed our goal of 25 pounds!

Past Events

Meal Makers

During MACOA’s Meal Makers Program, we made a difference in the lives of seniors in our community. Many of the seniors that are recipients of the Meals on Wheels Program do not get a hot meal except for the one that is prepared, packaged, and delivered by MACOA. This meal may be their only source of nutrition for the day, and it is a wonderful feeling knowing that we could be a part of it. We prepared approximately 200 meals during this service event.

With Blue Ridge Nursing Home

We did it again! We visited Blue Ridge nursing home and assist them with an afternoon of bingo. It was so much fun getting a chance to hang out and play some friendly games of bingo. Some of the residents won money for their bingos! They were excited about that.

Raise with AGA T-Shirt Sale

This year at the Fall PDT we sold AGA T-Shirts to raise funds for Family Promise of Montgomery. This organization houses homeless families at local churches and assist them with life skills needed to care for their family. With the funds raised, we donated pillows to Family Promise for the families in their care, just a small but often looked over need.

The director said, “having a pillow of their own is just the way to make our families feel secure in where they will lay their head.”

Vaughn Road Elementary School Clean Up Day

Vaughn Road Elementary School received a makeover of the front of their school. We laid out new pine straw and trimmed hedges. The principal of the school appreciated all of our help.

Montgomery Children’s Zoo Visit

On May 5th, we visited the Montgomery Zoo with the children from Montgomery Children’s Specialty Center. This project created a special experience to the children that are under the care of this facility. The kids had a blast and we did too!

During the Spring PDT we supported the Family Sunshine Center and their efforts to help domestic violence victims by hosting a very successful drive. Donated items ranged from socks to diapers. The Family Sunshine Center couldn't thank us enough for what we raised!

With the Residents at John Knox Manor

Volunteers that came out to play bingo with the residents at John Knox Manor had so much fun! They assisted the residents with their bingo cards and getting them back to their rooms. I'm sure the residents really enjoyed the time we spent with them.

Toys for Tots Fundraiser at AGA Fall PDT

At the AGA Fall PDT, the Community Service Committee had multiple ways to donate for Toys for Tots. We had drop-off boxes and also raised funds through selling Krispy Kreme certificates. We raised $130 in donations and also collected toys for the organization.

Campus Clean Day at Sidney Lanier High School

AGA Montgomery Chapter's Community Service Committee and AGA Members volunteered in a campus clean-up day at Sidney Lanier High School.  Volunteers assisted school administrators and staff in creating a productive learning environment for students.  We had a great time coming together and helping those in our community!
